Malaysia-based budget carrier Air Asia X will commence daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and London Gatwick via Bahrain from 26 June.

Flights on the new route, operated by the carrier’s A330 aircraft, will depart Kuala Lumpur at 10pm with an approximate two-hour stopover in Bahrain before arriving at London Gatwick at 7:30am the following day. Flights departing on Friday, however, have a shorter transit time in Bahrain and will reach London by 7:05am.

Flights from Gatwick, meanwhile, will depart at 10:25am and arrive in the Malaysian capital at 9:55am the following day after a two-hour transit in Bahrain.

The new route will see Bahrain International Airport become the carrier’s first ‘global hub’ as it looks to expand its long-haul network.

The low-cost airline relaunched flights to Europe last November with a four-times-weekly service from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of Air Asia parent company Capital A, said the new route marks “a defining step” in the carrier’s growth.

“Bahrain as our strategic aviation hub allows us to connect Asia with the Middle East and Europe more effectively while creating a scalable platform for future growth… Looking ahead, we will deepen partnerships with airports, tourism authorities and industry stakeholders to unlock new demand corridors.”

connecting flights on separate tickets kan? haruslah overnight di Bahrain if you don't want to risk missing your connection. I wonder berapa kerat ja yang actually fly to Bahrain only.

maksud aku yang nak tukar flight ke destinasi lain katanya Bahrain tu macam hub. kalau setakat nak isi minyak tak berbaloi berhenti both for the airline apa lagi passengers.

3 tu memang dah established for premium airlines, Bahrain target jadi hub untuk budget carrier lah kot and that's understandable. Cuma budget airlines ni ada image problem dengan delay and their business model memang tak accept multi connections on a single booking in other words your own risk. I'm not sure kalau insurance nak cover ke tak.

passage to the UK subject to gov approval tu merujuk pada ETA kot.

meols dulu2 kalu gi London, prefer airport Gatwick dari Heathrow....slalu naik Emirates, Qatar airways ada jugak, tapi jarang. Kalu meols gi Scandi, meols prefer naik Qatar Airways, sbb dia ada partnership dgn airlines from scandi, jd senang beli ticket dari satu website jer, iaitu Qatar Airways. Kalu Emirates, nanti smp their capital city jer, kalu nak connecting flight to other city, kena book sendiri kat website airline lain.

Meols lagi suka beli ticket dari satu airlines company sbb nanti kalu ada masalah flight delay, they will be responsible to change my flight to the next available flight...

meols baru je naik Air Asia X pergi Almaty alang2 terus cover Kyrgyzstan. Okay je. dorg pakai former kapal SQ. ada IFE tp takleh function la kan sbb low cost. selesa je seat. bukan yg nipis standard airasia tu. Kapal yg london ni kapal sama jugak. meols saja beli bahrain sbb dapat rm300 return. g weekend je nk tgk apa ada kt sana. kalau pegi london, transit 2 jam kt bahrain. tp tak beli la. sbb kalau add on luggage mcm tak berbaloi. better ambik full service
