Liverpool are one of a host of clubs interested in signing prolific FC Twente striker Luuk De Jong, according to the player’s agent. De Jong, 21, has dazzled for Twente this season, netting 23 goals in 23 Eredivisie games for Steve McClaren’s side.

The latest name being linked with a summer move to Anfield is FC Twente striker Luuk De Jong. The youngster has been in sparkling form this season for the Dutch side, scoring 23 goals in 23 games.

With Steve McClaren’s FC Twente struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League, De Jong is being hotly tipped to end his three-year association with the club in search of Champions League football.

The Netherlands international is apparently keen on a move to the Premier League, having recently expressed his interest in a move abroad.

And now De Jong’s agent Luis Laros has named Liverpool as just one of a host of clubs interested in him, with the striker having no shortage of admirers.

“Liverpool are following Luuk closely. But so are 15 other clubs,” Laros told Voetbal International, as reported by ESPN.

“Three big clubs that have qualified for the Champions League preliminaries have told us that they are ready to open talks with Twente.

“We will keep our eyes and ears open in the next few weeks. Luuk is feeling very well at Twente, but if the club fails to qualify for Europe, staying put is a less attractive option.”

Everton, Newcastle and German side Borussia Monchengladbach have also been linked to the striker.

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is weighing up his options ahead of the summer market.

The Mirror says Defoe yet again revealed his frustration at his lack of game-time after only featuring as a late substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Blackburn.

Congratulating his team-mates, the England striker said afterwards: “Well done boys. Three points. Not happy only got six minutes. Guess its home and get on the treadmill.”

Several clubs continue to monitor Defoe’s situation, with Liverpool and Sunderland again being mooted as possible summer destinations, says the Mirror.

Chedjou has been watched by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in recent weeks.

Asked about Juventus interest, Chedjou said: "I want the Premier League and I know that if I want to get there I must close the season strongly with Lille."
