MH17 human remains begin first stage of journey home to grieving families
More human remains from MH17, the airliner downed over Ukraine last month, have reached the city of Kharkiv where forensic teams will prepare them to be flown home and reclaimed by victims’ families.
Amid fighting in the east, experts have been struggling to recover body parts from all 298 people on the Malaysia Airlines plane, mostly Dutch nationals. Shelling near the crash site forced a partial halt in operations on Saturday.
“It is, of course, as you will understand, a difficult process with more than 100 individuals on the field and over 20 cars,” said Alexander Hug, Deputy Head of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) monitoring mission to Ukraine.
“But that has been talked through and we have a specific procedure in place should there be an immediate danger to the site, then we leave.”
Pro-Russian rebels deny shooting down the plane on July 17.
Ukraine’s military says it is tightening the noose around the Donetsk and Luhansk rebel strongholds.
Meanwhile, amid European Union and US sanctions on Moscow, Russia has accused the EU of double standards, saying it has lifted restrictions on supplying Ukraine with military technology and equipment “on the quiet”.
MH17: Only 62 bodies in ‘good’ condition, says IGP
PETALING JAYA: Only 62 bodies were found in good condition at the MH17 crash site, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.
Khalid was quoted as saying this in the PDRM’s Facebook page in an interview with a news channel.
He believed that the bodies of the victims that have yet to found were most likely strewn across the crash site.
Khalid said he hoped that the locals there would be able to help identify the areas where the remains could be found.
He added that although he had full confidence in the ability of the investigating teams at the site, it was still unclear as to when the probe would be completed.
“Every country has its own law and system. We do not have a choice. We have to respect the law and system of every country involved in this,” he said.
Khalid also expressed regret over the inability of the investigating team to enter the crash site as soon as they arrived in Ukraine.
He admitted that there was a possibility of tampering at the area as it was left unattended for too long after the tragedy.
Khalid, together with Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, left for Kiev on July 30 to hand over documents on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Sixty-eight Malaysian policemen left Kuala Lumpur for the crash site as part of an international deployment.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.
The Boeing 777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.
MH17 Probe Moves to Second Ukraine Site as Search Goes On
International investigators searched a second site of wreckage from Malaysian Air (MAS) Flight MH17 in rebel-controlled eastern Ukraine as the authorities in Kiev accused Russia of amassing troops on the border.
A team of Dutch and Australian forensic experts and police officers completed their work for today near the village of Rozsypne, Ilona de Ruyter, a spokeswoman for Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, the head of the recovery mission, said in a Twitter posting. Aalbersberg will provide more information later today, she said.
The inspectors broadened their search to an area about 8 kilometers (5 miles) by road west of where the bulk of the fuselage came down on July 17, after finding more human remains and personal effects of victims yesterday. While hostilities in the area of the site were suspended July 31, Russia is increasing it presence in regions neighboring Ukraine, according to the Defense Ministry in Kiev.
The 70-strong investigation team, helped by sniffer dogs, spent 5 1/2 hours at the original Grabovo site near a chicken farm yesterday. The remains and objects found were placed in a refrigerated truck to be taken to Kharkiv.
“There, Dutch, Australian and Malaysian experts and others stand ready to perform an initial forensic scan on the recovered remains,” Aalbersberg said.
Malaysian team likely to enter MH17 crash site tomorrow, says home minister
August 3, 2014
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — Members of the Malaysian special investigation team are expected to enter the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 crash site in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, on Monday to start their probe, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said in a statement issued here today that provided the security situation was conducive, the Malaysians would enter the crash site along with the teams from the Netherlands and Australia.
“A combined task force in Kharkiv has decided that a Malaysian team of 21 people will be deployed to the forward operations base in Soledar, about a four-hour journey from Kharkiv, at 2 pm (7 pm in Malaysia) today,” he said. The crash site is about an hour’s journey from the forward operations base. Ahmad Zahid said Malaysia would extend full cooperation to the international security forces involved in the investigation into the crash. MH17: father remembers 'perfect souls' at memorial for his three children
Parents Anthony Maslin and Rin Norris give emotional speeches in Perth for three children and their grandfather killed in disaster

The parents of three children killed on Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 have paid tribute to them at a memorial service in Perth attended by close to 1,000 people.
Mo, Evie and Otis Maslin and their grandfather Nick Norris were returning from a holiday in Amsterdam, where their parents had remained, when their plane was shot down over Ukraine.
A short video message from the three children to a long-time friend they were meant to meet during the holiday was screened at a service in Western Australia celebrating their lives on Sunday.
In the video, the three children ride their bikes through a park before telling Aunty Linda they miss her and hope to see her next year.
The children’s father, Anthony Maslin, said while the family had been all over the world, the trip to Amsterdam was the best holiday they ever had.
He said he referred to his children in the present tense because he knew with absolute certainty they were still with them today and that their “unblemished, innocent, perfect souls” were their whole world.
Their mother, Rin Norris, said her children filled her world with joy like an enormous balloon and taught her so much including all the Dockers players’ names, how not to be embarrassing and how to cheat at Uno.
She said when the children were born she held them in her arms close to her heart, doing the same when they were hurt to take away the pain.

She said she sang to them in different languages just like “grandfather Nicholas” did to her and had almost finished reading them the whole Harry Potter series.
“When their innocent bodies were shot out of the sky, I stretched my arms as high as I could and screamed for them,” Rin Norris said.
“Now I see them only in my head. I can’t touch them, I can’t feel their warmth. My arms will always be reaching for them.”
Anthony Maslin said it gave the family comfort to know Nick, the wisest man they knew, was with the children when the plane went down.
Nick Norris’s son Brack said his father was a man who put much time into his family with seemingly little effort. “My dad was a great man,” Brack said.
The service was held at Mo and Nick’s school, Scotch College, and attendees included the foreign minister, Julie Bishop.

Sekarang ni kat KLIA runway in use for landing adalah runway 14 and runway 15, part of the arrival route kena terbang atas sg buloh and batu arang.. so yang nak landing semua kena lalu kat atas kat situ dan kena terbang rendah bawah dari 5000 kaki.
