SUNGAI PETANI: A motorcyclist has been killed after his motorcycle crashed into a car suspected of running a red light at the Bandar Seri Cendana intersection here.
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Hanyan Ramlan said Wan Mohd Shamsury Wan Samsudin, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 8.40am incident on Tuesday (July 14).
The car, driven by a woman in her 20s, is believed to have failed to stop at a red light before turning right into the path of the motorcycle.

"The motorcycle, which was travelling straight, collided with the left side of the car. The motorcyclist, who was thrown onto the road, was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the victim's body was sent to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here for a post-mortem examination, while the woman received treatment at the same hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and he appealed to road users with dashboard camera footage or any other recordings of the incident to come forward and submit them to the police to assist in the investigation.
Meanwhile, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage circulating on social media, believed to be related to the incident, showed a motorcycle travelling straight before colliding with a red car that was making a right turn at the intersection. – Bernama

Zaman sekarang kat simpang lampu isyarat pun dah kena hati-hati walaupun laluan kita lampu sedang hijau. Lepaskan pedal minyak tika menghampiri persimpangan adalah yang sebaiknya... tapi kena tengok situasi jugaklah trafik belakang kita macamana... kalau motokar berderet kat belakang tak memasal kena hon 18 harakat sebab slow sikit dari kelajuan biasa.
Dak-dak rider banyak buat lagu ni, lampu merah pun dorang pecut kejar trip sebab tengok secara sepintas lalu line nampak clear. Dah berdentum kat simpang tu esok, apa pun tak boleh.
Motor rusak buleh repair. Badan rusak takde ganti.
aku berpendapat undang2 jalan raya tidak akan seratus peratus dapat menghindari kemalangan. keputusan apa yang pemandu buat itu pun ikut sama penting. kalau dah hampir simpang, sepatutnya kena slow. sebab sering berlaku salah faham atau orang ambik kesempatan..
jika betul kereta merah langgar lampu merah, maka dia patut dihukum. cuma aku heran kalau dia nak langgar lampu merah, dia tak tengok depan kah, ada kenderaan tengah laju ka, sempat lepas kah... aku tengok dia menyeberang slow, kelihatan mcm bukan langgar lampu merah... maka perkara ini mesti disiasat, jika kereta merah itu bersalah dia mesti di penjara

Moto tu pun laju juga approach traffic light. Kalau kapcai dan rxz tak sampai terbalik kereta. Ini moto besar. Motosikal kalau laju mmg sekelip mata aje appear depan mata. Mungkin pemandu kereta tu dah tengok pun jalan clear kat depan, jadi dia mula la gerak masuk simpang, dan tiba2 motosikal muncul.
