Rania Al-Yasin was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents from Tulkarm. She attended primary and secondary school at New English School in Kuwait, then earned a degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. After her graduation in 1991, Queen Rania worked at Citibank and Apple Computer

She met Jordanian King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, then Prince, at a dinner party in January 1993. Two months later, they announced their engagement and on June 10, 1993, they were married. They have four children:
 Prince Hussein (born June 28, 1994)
 Princess Iman (born September 27, 1996)
 Princess Salma (born September 26, 2000)
 Prince Hashem (born January 30, 2005)

She was named the third most beautiful woman in the world in the 2005 top 100 of Harpers & Queen magazine. In addition, she was the youngest queen in the world at the time King Abdullah succeeded to the throne. She makes many public appearances, including a half-hour television interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show on May 17, 2006, where she spoke about misconceptions about Islam and women's role in Islam.

Rania Al-Yassin (now Queen Rania al-Abdullah) is renowned for her philanthropic work. She is active in fields of national concern, as well microfinance, the protection of children from violence, the promotion of early childhood development, and the incorporation of technology into schools. In 2003, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Criminal Court's Trust Fund for Victims.[1]

Her Majesty has travelled to a great number of countries in representation of Jordan and to contribute to worldwide causes. Some of these are the USA, India, Kuwait, France, South Africa, Greece, The Netherlands, Great Britain, Morocco, Italy, The Vatican

Davos, Jan. 26 (Petra) -- It is not every day that youth take center stage amidst leaders at the World Economic Forum. Friday, they did just that as five youth joined Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan and Chancellor Gordon Brown of the United Kingdom in a frank panel discussion where they voiced their concerns about the state of the world and challenged the leaders to set up a Global Education Fund.

The youth identified two pressing challenges in today's world: the need for collective action to ensure quality global education, and the need for active global citizens who strive for unity and diversity.

Her Majesty welcomed the youth, who partook in the youngest panel discussion to take place at the forum. "We have to look at young persons not just as persons in the making, but as active agents, as people who we have to bring into the conversationincrease their participation, recognize their voices and include them in the decision making process," said Queen Rania

After signing the agreement, Queen Rania said, "It is a fancy title, but I see it as a fundamental job: To do all I can on behalf of child survival and education around the globe.
