MH17: Proses menyaring, melabel mayat dijangka selesai menjelang esok
KHARKIV: Proses menyaring dan melabel mayat mangsa nahas pesawat Malaysia Airline (MAS) MH17 dijangka selesai menjelang Jumaat.
Ketua Penolong Setiausaha Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) Lt Kol Mohd Sakri Hussain berkata pakar forensik dari Malaysia, Belanda dan Australia telah menyaring mayat di dalam lebih dua gerabak sejuk beku pada Rabu.
Terdapat empat gerabak sejuk beku yang membawa 282 mayat daripada timur Ukraine berhampiran sempadan Rusia ke Kharkiv untuk dilabel sebelum diterbang keluar ke Eindhoven, Belanda, katanya kepada Bernama pada Rabu.
Empat gerabak tersebut dibawa dengan kapal pada Selasa ke bandaraya Kharkiv sebelum diterbang ke Eindhoven dari di Kharkiv dan tiba dua hari lalu.
Mohd Sakri berkata mayat lain dalam lebih sebuah gerabak dijangka disaring dan dilabel menjelang Jumaat.
Sehingga kini 56 mayat telah diterbang ke Belanda pada Rabu untuk pengecaman.
Pesawat Boeing 777-200 itu dalam penerbangan dari Amsterdam ke Kuala Lumpur apabila ia terhempas di Donetsk, timur Ukraine berhampiran sempadan Rusia Khamis lalu.
Ia membawa 298 orang - 283 penumpang dan 15 anak kapal yang dipercayai ditembak jatuh, tetapi sehingga kini tiada pihak yang mengaku bertanggungjawab melakukannya.

MH17: Malaysian envoy takes part in memorial service in Australia
MELBOURNE: The Malaysian Consul General here, Datuk Dr Mohd Rameez Yahaya, were among diplomats, political and religious leaders, who took part in a multi-faith service to pay their respects to the 298 people who died in the MH17 crash at the St Paul's Cathedral Thursday.
While more than 1,200 packed the historic cathedral, hundreds more followed the service on big screens at the Federation Square across the road.
The service was televised nationwide.
Victorian State Premier Dr Denis Napthine read a poem by Dutch-American Henry van Dyke as candles were lit to commemorate those who died.
Sheikh Moustapha Sarakibi said a Muslim prayer, Hojun Futen gave a Buddhist blessing and Cantor Bruce Levin sang a Jewish lament.

MH17: Hari Raya open house at Sri Perdana cancelled
KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet Ministers' Hari Raya open house at Seri Perdana has been cancelled as mark of respect to the victims of flight MH17 and their families.
The open house is traditionally held on the first day of Syawal.
It is learnt that the decision to call off the event was made at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
It is also learnt that the National level Hari Raya Open House to be held at Dataran Rembau on Aug 17 had too been cancelled.
An official announcement on the matter is expected to be made later on Thursday. |

ALGIERS: Air Algerie said it lost contact with one of its aircraft nearly an hour after takeoff from Burkina Faso on Thursday bound for Algiers.
"Air navigation services have lost contact with an Air Algerie plane Thursday flying from Ouagadougou to Algiers, 50 minutes after takeoff," the airline said, cited by national news agency APS. |
