Londoners told to ‘run away as far as possible’ if Isis targets capital
Londoners must ‘run away as far as possible’ if Isis terrorists target the capital, a senior counter-terror officer has warned.
Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said people must learn the basic rules to save their own lives and help reduce the death toll in the event of an attack, reports Evening Standard.
Rowley said if people can’t run any further they should find a hiding place and call police.
Workers across London were also urged to help stop terror plots in their tracks by looking out for ‘suspicious’ individuals.
Rowley told Evening Standard that it may seem ‘blindingly obvious’ but some people don’t think to run when in the moment.
He said: ‘So let’s be really clear – run as far away as possible and when you can’t run any further, hide, and then tell – call the police because we’ve got the people, the resources, the firearms to deal with it. It’s very straightforward.’
This follows a recent spate of attacks in France and Germany that has kept the UK on high alert.
The number of ‘high calibre’ firearms specialists will increase over the coming weeks as more armed forces are deployed across the capitol.
‘Every Londoner can help the fight against terrorism, whether it’s being more prepared personally or at work or if you are suspicious about something or someone,’ he added.

THE TEENAGER accused of stabbing a US tourist to death and wounding five others has been charged.
The 19-year-old suspect was named last night as Zakaria Bulhan, described by former classmates in South London as a “quiet, shy pupil” who was bullied at school.

The tourist killed in the attack was identified as Darlene Horton, 64, the wife of a psychology professor.
Tragically, she was enjoying her last night in London as the couple were due to return home to Florida yesterday.
